How to read MICR 229024058
229: the city code. It usually follows the first digits of the area's PIN code; here it is City for Upload.
024: the bank code, the same for every branch of Punjab National Bank in cheque clearing.

The MICR is printed in magnetic ink at the bottom of every cheque leaf, between the cheque number and your account ID. Check that the MICR on the cheque matches the branch printed at the top of the leaf.
